Savory Croutons
Homemade croutons are simple to make and so much better tasting than the ones you can buy at the store. Combining the fresh flavors of thyme, oregano, and parsley, these croutons are crispy on the outside but still soft and chewy on the inside. If you don’t have ciabatta on hand, you can easily substitute whatever bread you have available.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf (1 pound) ciabatta bread cut into 1-in. cubes
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon seasoned salt
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ cup olive oil
- ¼ cup savory, chopped
- 2 teaspoons thyme, chopped
- 2 teaspoons oregano, chopped
- 3 teaspoons Italian parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325° F.
- Mix the bread cubes with spices.
- Combine butter and olive oil and blend in herbs.
- Toss with croutons.
- Bake on a baking sheet for 30-45 minutes or until crisp and golden brown.
