The best part of summer at my house is always the Fourth of July. There’s no better reason to have a blowout barbeque than the founding of our nation, and Tom and I are so excited to get the neighbors out back to see our new, self-constructed patio. We spent all spring building it, and it’s finally finished and fabulous! We couldn’t be prouder.
I already have the perfect menu planned. With the help of Martha Stewart, I have some great recipes up my sleeve, including—Home-ground Hamburgers with Bacon, Cheese, and Fresh Thyme, French Potato Salad with lots of delicious Dijon mustard and, yes, more fresh thyme, and Grilled Zucchini Spears with Fresh Mint. With this menu, sparklers and smokebombs seem entirely beside the point.
And since there’s thyme in both the burgers and the potato salad, I picked up a living organic thyme plant at the grocery store. I’ve been watering it religiously (but not over-watering, mind you!) in preparation for the big day!
