I was surfing the “dining and wine” section of the New York Times last month, when I ran across this great idea for a Live Basil Gimlet. I was busy with work and had no time to stop and savor (much less put together) something so extravagant, but this past week, I picked up a living basil herb plant and got out my cocktail shaker. I have to say, this drink is divine. And, easy too. It’s basically just gin, lime juice, simple syrup, and lots and lots of glorious summer basil. Treat yourself.
